It is true that in suffering very often God feels closest. I’ve felt run down and discouraged but also so thankful for my health. Nothing like illness to help us not take our bodies for granted!! And also The ability to recover and heal and have modern medicine. Recovering feels like being rebaptized in a sense. This is a gift, to emerge from the waters and feel the face of God.

I’m so sorry you’ve been sick, but yes, God often does feel near in the moments when we are forced to slow down and pay attention to our lives.
